What are `style' and `diction'?In the early 1980s a team of programmers worked on a project to develop UNIX-based tools for textual analysis. They created a number of tools which were packaged as the Writer's Workbench. Two of those tools have been released under the GNU General Public License and are available for public use. You may try these tools on our web site. If you find them useful, download the source code from the GNU web site at http://www.gnu.org/software/diction/diction.html You will need tools to compile the programs. The tools are freely available on UNIX systems and UNIX-derived systems such as Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, and Mac OS X. If you aren't fortunate enough to have a UNIX-based system, and are running on an ix86-style computer, the Cygwin (GNU + Cygnus + Windows) is an excellent way to get started using UNIX-style tools.
